That fleeting moment...
Melinda Ballard bor i Arendal, men kommer egentlig fra Australia. I sommer fotograferte hun for første gang for Canal Street, og det er vi glade for! Se hennes festivalfavorittbilde og les hva som gjør det så spesielt.
"Any photographer will tell you that photography is about catching THAT fleeting moment. We try to tell the story of an hour, a day, or a lifetime with just one picture. But for me, photography is also about humour.
I love what I do and I am well aware of how funny it can be to see me crawling along the pavement with a camera to my eye or climbing trees for the best view. You need a sense of humour to live a happy life.
Musicians also lose themselves in what they love at times. These glorious golden idols on stage are human beings like you or I, they have passions and fears like you or I. Their music moves us in ways that are hard to explain, and we also, move them. Both crowd and artist make a concert and so, without the crowd there is no artist, and without an artist there is no crowd.
So while I'm up a tree, laughing about that, I am trying to photograph the musician in the moments of interaction with the crowd, where the crowd and the musician are giving to one-another equally and where the joy of living and the humanity of the musician can be seen."
